I've had this a couple months now feom 5mr. Softens up almost immediately after the first wash.
The waffley texture of this pattern makes for an airy, breathable weave. I do multi-pass carries, and this glides well with little difficulty. This is floppy and moldable, without the rigidity that people sometimes associate with linen blends. Very easy to fix any pulls that happen, I can easily follow the thread through the pattern (which I have trouble with in denser weaves).
I had a traveling tester of Perran before my purchase from 5mr. It is perfectly lightweight and airy--a must in humid southeast Oklahoma summers. It glides wonderfully but has the grip to keep passes in place. The color is gorgeous. It takes just one wash and one good steamy ironing to break down into a soft and lush wrap. If you've ever felt an Aden and Anais bamboo dream blanket or receiving blanket, then that is what it feels like once it's broken. I wear my 32lb toddler in it with minimal sag and no dig. He stays with little to no readjusting or retightening. Also the different patterned rails are perfect for new wearers. If I had the funds, I'd buy an entire bolt of these and hand them out at baby showers. Similar in feeling to an Indio but without all the breaking in required. Thanks 5mr for being a retailer for Firespiral slings in the US. Keep them coming :)
